VA.2026.010 · Floor 01 · hall 10
“before a mind can remember what happened, it must agree on who it happened to.”
VA-Identity is not authentication and not redaction. It answers two narrower questions on top of the graph kernel: who is meant — resolving a name or alias to one stable entity — and what that who is canonically like, as a declarative anchor of personality, lore, and history. Memory keeps what happened; identity settles who it happened to. A bridge outside the library is the only thing allowed to know both worlds.
Resolution is strict on purpose: exact label and alias matches short-circuit, fuzzy matching weighs names with a bigram measure, and anything under threshold — or too close to call — returns unknown or ambiguous instead of guessing. Entities carry eras for succession without rewriting the past, persona links bind many runtime masks to one entity without cross-graph edges, and relations stay idempotent and directed. The library never lists what it cannot enumerate honestly; unsupported listing returns an explicit error, not a confident fiction.
Five of six phases are green with gated live-model compliance proving composed replies stay in character and refuse support-bot tone. Packaging is in progress — rename and barrel export landed, smoke verification still open. Every proper noun in this hall is withheld: the reference figure from an older monolith appears only as silhouette, because the exhibit studies how identity resolves, not whose identity it is.

VA-Identity
Identity Resolution · Persona Anchor · Graph Library
Graph schema, tooling, and import smoke — the registry gets its shelves.
Validated shapes for entities, aliases, eras, and relations — what an identity is allowed to say.
Register, define, and alias with idempotent seeds — history replaced consciously, never merged blindly.
Exact short-circuit plus fuzzy bigram matching; partial first-names without aliases honestly return unknown.
Succession without inventing the past, persona links without cross-graph edges, idempotent directed relations.
Barrel, honest name, smoke test — rename and barrel landed, verification still open.
Dependency refresh and a library barrel stub prepared the package for the integration pass; the resolver now travels to the runtime that needs it.
concepts — kept & discarded
kept — resolve as read-only; the library names, never creates, never remembers
rejected — cross-graph edges between identity and memory partitions
held — packaging and registry publish wait for phase 06

curator annotations
an unknown is a finished answer; a guess is an unfinished lie.
the anchor may be embodied; it may never be contradicted.
memory and identity share no edge — the bridge knocks, then carries.

failed experiments
exact matches drowned inside a blended score and never surfaced. replaced with short-circuit plus margin.
missing store methods returned unknown that looked like knowledge. now the contract demands injected candidates or an honest error.
live replies slipped into assistant tone. gated asserts now reject helpdesk phrasing and retry.

research notes
— weighted sums of weak signals lose to exact short-circuits — let the certain win first.
— one-letter typos beat token overlap; bigrams forgive what sets punish.
— persona links belong in props, not edges — masks change, the entity remains.
No event is stored until its subject resolves. A memory attached to a guess is gossip; attached to an entity, it is history.
The anchor declares what is true; the moment may only color how it feels. Replies may tremble, but they may not rewrite the past.
When the registry cannot enumerate, it says so explicitly. A museum label that reads unknown is more trustworthy than one that invents.

future vision
VA-Identity closes with packaging: an honest name, a barrel export, a smoke test that proves the room travels. After that it stays narrow on purpose — who is meant, and what they are canonically like — while memory, maps, and simulation argue about everything else.
